Nokia has refused to follow the notch design trend on its latest smartphone even in 2019 when almost all the brands are adopting full notch design.

Aside from the notch, the  Nokia 9 Pure View comes with impressive features like superb camera, 2k display, ample storage, lag-free performance, etc., making it a suitable option as your next smartphone. Nokia 9 Pure View - Design and Display

The Nokia 9 Pure View offers the viewing experience you deserve, it features a 5.99” edge-to-edge pOLED QHD display with 2K resolution. With PureDisplay technology, you’ll experience accurate colors and improved sunlight readability.

The Multi-touch pOLED QHD display is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 screen protection for better durability. The device is water resistant (IP68) and dust-proof, which makes a suitable company for your next adventurous trip. The Nokia 9 is only available in a colour called Midnight Blue

The design is very sleek and beautiful for handheld, at the back of the device is the 5 back camera (which we think is the main selling point of the device), Nokia had designed the smartphone to have an in-display fingerprint scanner and a bright and colorful p-OLED screen. At the bottom of the phone are a USB-C port, in-call mic, and loudspeaker.

Just like most of the popular phones coming with notch design, the company did not adopt the notch on its latest smartphone, but we saw it on Nokia 8.1.

The Nokia 9 is certainly an attractive smartphone. There's no curve in the display's Gorilla Glass 5, but there is a beveled edge around the aluminum frame, which is made out of 6000 series aluminum. The exposed aluminum contrasts very well with the frame's semi-gloss finish.

Nokia 9 Pure View - Performance, Storage and Camera

No arguments, the Nokia 9 is powered by last year's Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. As a matter of fact, every image shot with this device uses information from all five cameras.

The smartphone is powered by two Kryo 385 quad-core processors having 2.8GHz and 1.8GHz clock speed. Those are seated on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 MSM8998 chipset. Furthermore, the Adreno 630 graphics facilitates excellent gaming experience, while the 6GB RAM promises sufficient programmes to perform without nagging or hanging.

However, the performance is further enhanced with Android 9 Pie. The Android 9 Pie tailors a user experience that just gets better with time making the device an amazing device for gaming, streaming of videos and multitasking without issues of hanging or slowing down.

As for the storage, it comes 128GB of internal storage with no microSD card expansion. And unfortunately, it appears that this will be the only memory variant that will be available. On like the trend we have been seeing in 2019. However, with the 128GB, we believe you still won't run out of storage frequently.

Again, the Nokia 9 Pure View's camera is the most exciting part of the device. The five camera setup is aimed at photography enthusiasts. And this phone is made perfectly for those who like to tune their RAW photos in post processing - like opening up shadows, bringing back highlights, and applying just the right amount of sharpening.

All the cameras lenses have the same fixed focal length of 28mm. This camera doesn't have a wide angle camera, it doesn't have telephoto cameras, and it doesn't have any fancy shooting modes. Instead, all five cameras are 12MP each and have f/1.8 aperture lenses: two of the cameras are RGB and the other three are monochrome.

The images from all five (sometimes even a few photos per camera) are all stacked to produce a single image with a spectacular dynamic range - up to 12.4 stops of difference in a light which is as much as a real large sensor camera. Aside from letting 2.8x more light in due to the lack of a Bayer filter, the job of the B&W sensors is also to allow for a true monochromatic shooting mode rather than a mere desaturation of already color images.

The Nokia also has a front-facing 20MP F/1.8 camera. It supports Tetracell pixel binning so in low light situations, it can combine four adjacent pixels into one producing 5MP images.

Nokia 9 Pure View - Battery and Other Features

The device has an integrated 3320 mAh battery capacity, that is not as massive as expected. But, Nokia uses an AI Technology that helps the battery Last longer from charge to charge with the Adaptive Battery. The Nokia 9 Pure View is Wireless charging enabled and USB Type-C for fast charge.

The Nokia is a Single-SIM  (Nano-SIM) or Hybrid Dual SIM smartphone. Connectivity options on the device include Wi-Fi, GPS, USB Type-C, 3G, and 4G, Hotspot etc. While the sensors on the phone include In-screen fingerprint sensor, ALS/PS, G-sensor, E-compass, Gyro, Hall sensor, Barometer, Haptic vibrator.

Nokia 9 Pure View - Price and Availablity

The Nokia 9 PureView is launched in the US in early March while Europe is expected to wait until April. Well, the wait will be shorter than expected. Several stores will ship the 5-camera flagship in mid-March and in one case the price is lower than the official cost over at Nokia.com (which still shows April shipping dates).

However, the Nokia 9 will cost $600 in the US and in the UK it's £550 for the phone and you get a pair of Nokia True Wireless Earbuds.

Nokia 9 Pure View - Pros
  • Powerful camera for quality photos and video recording

  • Beautiful design and wide display for gaming
  • Supports fast charging with USB Type-C and wireless charging
