Samsung Galaxy A50 - Design and Display

We have been seeing the water-drop notch or the Infinity – U display and Samsung has adopted this design model for all of its 2019 devices. We saw the design on the M-Series and now it's here again. The Galaxy A50 uses a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen and Samsung calls it Infinity U display due to its U-shaped notch.

The screen features Full HD+ resolution (2340×1080 pixels) with a 19.5:9 screen to body ratio. The phone is available in three colors in India: Black, Blue, and White. The Galaxy A50 6.4" infinity U display is near a bezel-less edge to edge FHD+ screen that provides an immersive viewing experience for the user.

At the back are the triple horizontal camera and a bold Samsung logo at the center. At the side is a power on and off button and volume up and down. The design is very sleek and fits perfectly in hand.

Again, Samsung is using a regular TFT LCD panel (not IPS LCD) on the Galaxy A50 and we didn’t find it lacking in terms of quality. Colors are vibrant and pop nicely. Samsung still doesn’t provide an option to tweak display colors for its LCD display phones, but the default color calibration is good. If you prefer warmer tones, you can also make use of the blue-light filter.

Samsung Galaxy A50 - Performance, Storage and Camera

We saw the Exynos 7904 octa-core chipset on the M-Series but this A50 still comes with the Exynos but with a higher chip. The device is powered by Octa-core (2.3 GHz, Quad core, Cortex A73 + 1.7 GHz, Quad core, Cortex A53) Exynos 9610 processor paired with 4 GB and 6GB of RAM to offer a powerful performance that the users crave for.

This Exynos 9610 falls behind the Snapdragon 660 but is still more powerful than what Samsung offered on the best of M-series. With the Exynos 9610, 2.3 GHz Octa Core Processor, we can expect nothing less than a super fast performance. The Galaxy A50 can multitask with gaming, videos streaming and internet browsing without breaking a sweat.

Furthermore, the performance is enhanced with a 4GB/6GB Ram and runs on Samsung's One UI based on Android Pie that promises no hanging or nagging even under a serious heavy usage.

Also, you won't have to worry about storage space. Samsung provides an internal memory of 64GB for both the 4GB Ram and 6GB Ram variants and the storage can be further expanded up to 512 GB using MicroSD card. So, play more and save more with the latest Samsung smartphone.

Most persons consider the camera quality before buying and with this A50, you can expect nothing than a super quality camera. There is a triple-camera setup at the rear, which consists of a 25MP sensor, an 8MP sensor, and a 5MP sensor, the camera can record 4K videos. A 25MP selfie with f/2.0 aperture.

Samsung Galaxy A50 - Battery and Other Features

We are seeing a big battery here. The Galaxy A50 comes packed with a 4000mAh high-capacity battery which supports 15W fast charging. At 4000mAh, we expect the phone to easily last a day even with heavy usage.

Connectivity options on the Galaxy A50 include GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, dual-SIM card slot with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4Ghz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0 (with LE), USB 2.0 Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack

Also, it is the first mid-range smartphone from Samsung to feature an in-display fingerprint reader. The phone uses an optical in-display fingerprint reader rather than the ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader that’s used in the latest Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10 Plus.

Samsung Galaxy A50 -  Price

The device is a mid-range device and it is priced at Rs 24,990 in India, 125,000 Naira in Nigeria and $349. The device is currently not available for order in Nigeria.
